Weekly Bets, BetZillion Betting Study, and MLB Media Done Right

We Have a Final Four š
In This Issue:
Community Cappers Lock In Their Weekly Picks
Last Week: 1-2 | -1.2u
Kon Knueppel Over 14.5 Points (-125) ā / Peak Picks
Tyrese Haliburton Under 9.5 Assists (+110) ā / The UNDERground Lab
Scottie Scheffler To Win Houston Open (+350) ā / Nuke Bets
Overall Record: 19-18 | +1.92u
Obviously this is a different Duke team, which happens to be the number one offense in the country according to KenPom.
However, defense wins championships.
Houston holds the number one defense according to KenPom.
They also have the veteran leadership and shooters that it takes to cut down the nets in San Antonio.
LJ Cryer and Emanuel Sharp have the shooting prowess to keep up with Duke offensively if they allow Duke to get hot, but I donāt see it.
Joseph Tugler is the most underrated defender in the nation, and he will draw the assignment of Cooper Flagg.
If he can make Flagg uncomfortable and force him to take tough shots, they can rebound as well as anyone in the country.
Kelvin Sampson has been in this spot before, and has the veteran leaders to back him.
Jon Scheyer and Co. would need to play a perfect game to win by 6 or more, and I donāt see that happening.
Give me Houston +5.5, and I might even sprinkle the ML.
Thus far, the Cardinals have demonstrated patience at the plate.
They havenāt chased and arenāt whiffing especially in the zone where they rank 1st in contact made.
We should see a heavy dose of Andersonās change up pitch against the Cardinals righties who make up most of the lineup.
The wind blowing from LR should put the change up more in the zone where the Cardinals should be able to make contact with it.
Love the matchup for an UNDER under these circumstances.
Letās get it š¤š½
Akshay ranks 27th on tour in driving accuracy and 65th in scrambling.
He also ranks 34th on tour in save % which is extremely beneficial to avoid those big numbers this week.
On top of Akshay playing very good this year, he is a strong player in the wind and TPC San Antonio tends to get breezy.
BetZillion Betting Study
BetZillion, a global resource for bettors worldwide, recently published a sports betting report covering a ton of interesting topics.
A few of my favorites:
% of Bettors by Country
Despite the billions of dollars that American Sportsbooks put into advertising, you wonāt find the U.S. on this listās top 10.
BetZillion calls out "varying legislation and regulatory status of online sports betting in different regions of the USA and Canada" as the cause.

U.S. Public Perception
According to the study:
33% of people think sports betting is bad for sports, 16% think it's good, and 49% think it doesn't make a difference.
34% believe sports betting is bad for society, 8% think it's good, and 57% are unsure.
Sports Betting as āInvestingā
Believe it or not, nearly half of US respondents view betting as investing, with nearly 86% of UK respondents saying the same.
79% from the UK group fall in the 18-24 age group

ā¦And More
The rest of the study covers demographic data from bookmakers, the most bet on sports, and how much bettors are laying.
The study caps off with a few notable key takeaways:
- Younger demographics [ages 18 and 35] represent the largest segment of sports bettors in most regions across the globe.
- Regions with more established betting markets spend more on sports betting.
- An increasing percentage of people see sports betting as a negative activity that should be discouraged.
The BetZillion website is worth checking out if you havenāt already, with tools like betting calculators and odds screens, sportsbook reviews, and ton of interesting and niche tools.
The Skippers View: MLB Media Masterclass
MLB season is officially in full gear, and this feels like the perfect time to highlight The Skippers View - my favorite source for all things MLB and baseball.
They have nearly 20 "content creators" posting content covering major MLB news, college baseball, betting & fantasy, and other types of unique content.
I add quotes to "content creators" because itās not just content for the sake of content; each piece of content has tons of depth, understanding of players and how the game is played, and grounded in statistics & analytics when it makes sense.
How I Use The Skippers View
Obviously this is a great source for general baseball/MLB news, but letās go a step further.
When Iām betting on the MLB or looking at MLB picks cappers are giving out, the more context I can get on a game or player the better.
For example, before the MLB started I placed a variety of 2025 Futures across the board.
Using the websiteās "search" feature, I was able to find 7+ articles related to Futures and use them to help allocate my money.

I find so much more real value in this type of content compared to using Google, ESPN, or AI.
Content from The Skippers View goes beyond the surface, giving you insights and thought experiments that you donāt really get elsewhere.
At least not that Iāve found yet.
Content Call-Outs
With over 12 creators and new content every week, the website/X account can feel like a lot to take in.
Podcast
They have a great podcast for fans who prefer listening over reading, and rotate in different guests based on the topic of each episode.
You can catch it on their website, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more.
Deanās Red Sox Series Reviews
One of the founders of The Skippers View, Dean Ciriaco, does a review after each Red Sox series.
Heās also written about the Yankeeās new torpedo bats, hold and cold hitters from Opening Weekend, and more.
Nickās Picks
Another example is Nickās Picks - Someone youāve definitely come across before if you follow me on Twitter.
He focuses more on the betting/fantasy side of baseball, and put up an insane 2025 Futures card and Fantasy Baseball rankings for pretty much any active player you can name.
The Bottom Line
If youāre tired of getting the same headlines over and over from ESPN, Bleacher Report, or wherever else youāre getting your baseball news from, I highly recommend giving The Skippers View and these individuals a look.
NOT an ad, affiliate deal, or anything like that. Just a truthful review of a great source for bettors and MLB fans alike š¤·āāļø
South Carolina Wants In on the Action
Another state is eyeing the betting big leagues.
South Carolina lawmakers recently introduced two new bills that would legalize sports betting across the state ā Senate Bill 444 and House Bill 3625.
If either passes, it could bring up to 8 sportsbooks into the Palmetto State, each shelling out $100K just to apply, and $1M for a 5-year license.
A new 9-person betting commission would oversee everything from licensing to operations.
Worth noting: These bills donāt touch DFS or mandate official league data, so the focus here is strictly on traditional sports betting.
Neither bill has hit a floor vote yet, but South Carolina could become the next state to open its doors to legal wagers.
